I had a great experience buying through Autoport.
After I had selected a vehicle in Japan the Autoport team swung into gear and their Japanese agent checked the vehicle out at the car lot. I wanted to make sure it was accident free, the mileage was as indicated and the car was in good condition for its age. After making sure all was Ok I entered into a purchase agreement and the deposit was paid. From that point on the purchase was without any hassles.
When the car arrived at the Japanese departure dock it was checked out by Autoport's accredited agents to meet NZ Government entry requirements. It passed with flying colours and was then on the boat to NZ.
On arrival in NZ all the compliance details were handled professionally by Autoport and then the balance of the purchase was paid.
After registration was completed the car was ready for pickup.
At all stages of the purchase I was kept fully informed by Autoport's friendly staff, Daniel and Carlene.
This was my first Japanese car purchase and Autoport made it a pleasant experience - my initial apprehension gone.

As a first time customer of buying a car online, thru Autoport and living in this day and age of modern technology with a plethora of scams/phishing/fakes/clones etc, I had huge doubts whether this was the right way to go about getting a new car especially because I had lived in Auckland most of my life, never seen this place on my travels nor known anyone who has brought from them before. The poor team at Autoport probably have a special name for me like "oh no it's that annoying lady that thinks we're scammers", hahaha, emailing them everytime I got worried I hadn't heard from them when I thought I should have lol. The team were so patient and polite, always responded in a timely manner. And after all of that, my car arrived. Right up to 2 mins away from Autoport and not being able to find the gate, I still thought I was being scammed. You may think, well why did you buy it that way then? Well the photos online, it was a beautiful car. Low k's compared to what I could find in NZ, good star rating, not a bad price. Almost a to good to be true scenario. I jumped on Google and did some research on Autoport, called the team to reassure myself, read the testimonials. Was happy to go thru with the purchase, made the transfer and still sh*t myself until the car arrived lol. I mean hey, some of these scams are very sophisticated :) However, I call her she and she is in my possession now. Couldn't get a AA lemon check done first which is my main go to when purchasing a Subaru so a lot of this was riding on hope. Had her for a few months now and she's going strong.
The Autoport team really came thru on this one. Have had no problems with the car, runs really smooth and pretty good on petrol. Absolutely love the car. I had never purchased a vehicle on-line before, so I was apprehensive about how it all worked. I need not have worried, Autoport was obviously experienced as they answered all my questions reassuringly and allayed my fears by explaining the process clearly to me. They informed me of progress as it happened, the clearance, the loading, the transporting, even the whereabouts of the ship and its ports of call. Whatever paper work was required of them, they informed me, asked me in a timely fashion for my documents. I never felt under pressure and was impressed with their efficiency. I was even met at the airport and taken to their depot where again, all the paperwork was completed, and the car was mine! But it didn't stop there. I can't read Japanese. However, my queries about how something worked on the dashboard were patiently explained. The car is going well! I would not hesitate to recommend this company, and method of purchasing, to anyone. And I am really enjoying the car.

I've now imported two cars via Autoport, both PHEVs, and I am happy to report that on both occasions I found the process to be seamless. Each time their team took care of everything from pre-purchase inspection in Japan to compliance and vinning in NZ, providing email updates along the way - the only hard part was waiting for my vehicles to arrive! The only paperwork on my end was applying to NZTA for the Clean Car Rebate. Having been a Jaguar enthusiast for more than 65 years I was trying to find a low mileage classic Jaguar to enjoy while I could still drive.
I found such a car in Japan. I had no idea how to go about having it thoroughly inspected to ensure it was genuinely as reported. Even less how to securely purchase the vehicle. Have it removed from the Japanese register. Complete export documentation and shipping. Arrange for import to NZ or the procedure to have it registered, WOF etc ready to legally drive here.
Here the wonderful team at Autoport.nz took over. They set out an easily understood breakdown of the procedure and costs from initial inspection, purchase, shipping and costs in NZ ready for me to drive away.
I paid a 10% deposit and left everything to them.
It was a completely seamless operation from the time that I asked them to buy the car until they told me it was ready for me to drive away.
It could not have been a better experience. The car was 'as new' from the showroom. The final account exactly as expected.
Within an hour of taking delivery of the beautiful Jaguar, with no obligation to do so, they also helped me make a no risk sale of my previous vehicle at a very satisfactory price.

Their response was impressively quick, and within a few weeks, they had listed over ten options for me. In May 2021 I decided to purchase my next car through the Internet, while living in Australia. There was a website I liked a lot by the name of "autoport.nz". After searching through it for a while I found a beautiful Mercedes E250, equipped with all the bells and whistles one would expect from such a car. It had a very low (guaranteed) mileage. The price was more than reasonable. So, my wife and decided to go for it. I contacted Autoport.nz. A very helpful and nice person named Daniel contacted me and told me how to go about purchasing a car from them.
I paid the initial ten percent deposit of the car’s price. Then the car was checked thoroughly, first in Japan, after shipping it to NZ it was once again checked here. When my wife and I arrived in NZ in July 2021 the car was very nicely groomed and waiting for me, as agreed with Daniel and Natalie (another nice and supportive person of Autoport.nz).
So, all up, I like the car, I like the way I was treated as a customer and there’s nothing I could complain about. In fact, our younger daughter is currently in the process of getting three cars from Autoport.NZ, one for her husband, one for her daughter, and one for herself.

2016 Mercedes-Benz E Class E250
In May 2021 I decided to purchase my next car through the Internet, while living in Australia.
There was a website I liked a lot by the name of "autoport.nz". After searching through it for a while I found a beautiful Mercedes E250, equipped with all the bells and whistles one would expect from such a car. It had a very low (guaranteed) mileage. The price was more than reasonable. So, my wife and decided to go for it. I contacted Autoport.nz. A very helpful and nice person named Daniel contacted me and told me how to go about purchasing a car from them.
I paid the initial ten percent deposit of the car’s price. Then the car was checked thoroughly, first in Japan, after shipping it to NZ it was once again checked here. When my wife and I arrived in NZ in July 2021 the car was very nicely groomed and waiting for me, as agreed with Daniel and Natalie (another nice and supportive person of Autoport.nz).
So, all up, I like the car, I like the way I was treated as a customer and there’s nothing I could complain about. In fact, our younger daughter is currently in the process of getting three cars from Autoport.NZ, one for her husband, one for her daughter, and one for herself.

2007 Mazda Axela
The thought of importing a car was something my wife and I have thought about in the past, but it fell into the too hard basket and we had no idea where to start, that was until a friend introduced me to Autoport. Autoport had 1000’s of cars to choose from and we found a late model car with much lower km’s and price than we could find from any dealer here in NZ and they took care of absolutely everything. Although I was skeptical at first to deal with Autoport, I was pleasantly surprised when they actually found a car that not only matched my requirements, but also exceeded the same - I got more than what I had asked for and at the price I wanted to pay. 2013 Mercedes Benz SL350 AMG Sport
We weren’t sure about buying a near new car from the UK as we didn’t like the idea of sending a lot of cash overseas and we didn’t know about claiming VAT. Autoport managed all that. The car had just 500 miles on the clock, was highly spec’d and the savings were very, very significant! Totally comfortable and totally trustworthy service and I like we got the right car direct from the source but dealt with a local NZ company. Very happy thanks for the great deal.
We needed a cheap replacement car for the bach. We couldn’t be bothered with auctions or visiting dealers and found Autoport quick and easy with plenty of choice. Just tell them what you want online or over the phone. We saved time with absolutely no hassles (David managed all the negotiations, shipping etc.) and we still saved money. I love my little Vitz, it even has paddles! It’s never missed a beat, is good on fuel and looks great. I’m retired so wasn’t 100% sure about using an internet site to buy a car, but talking to David and getting to know all the checks they do and them doing to price haggle made it easy for me. I couldn’t believe how good the car was when it turned up. When I buy another car I’ll use Autoport.

That was so easy, absolutely zero stress. I got exactly what I wanted and saved a lot of money and time. Ryan kept me informed all the way of where the car was at, when it arrived in NZ and when it would be ready to collect. We’re a retired couple and needed a reliable car at the right price. Dealing with a NZ company who handles everything took the hassle away. We didn’t have to worry about haggling with anyone over the price or getting pushed into buying extras and the price we ended up paying was much better than local prices. Overall this was very easy and not like normally buying a used car. We were totally comfortable with this purchase and made a great saving. We’ll never buy anywhere else from now on.
