I had a great experience buying through Autoport. After I had selected a vehicle in Japan the Autoport team swung into gear and their Japanese agent checked the vehicle out at the car lot. I wanted to make sure it was accident free, the mileage was as indicated and the car was in good condition for its age. After making sure all was Ok I entered into a purchase agreement and the deposit was paid. From that point on the purchase was without any hassles. When the car arrived at the Japanese departure dock it was checked out by Autoport's accredited agents to meet NZ Government entry requirements. It passed with flying colours and was then on the boat to NZ. On arrival in NZ all the compliance details were handled professionally by Autoport and then the balance of the purchase was paid. After registration was completed the car was ready for pickup. At all stages of the purchase I was kept fully informed by Autoport's friendly staff, Daniel and Carlene. Great company, awesome communication, I felt like I could purchase and import with confidence through them and it was our first time importing a vehicle directly from Japan. As a first time customer of buying a car online, thru Autoport and living in this day and age of modern technology with a plethora of scams/phishing/fakes/clones etc, I had huge doubts whether this was the right way to go about getting a new car especially because I had lived in Auckland most of my life, never seen this place on my travels nor known anyone who has brought from them before. The poor team at Autoport probably have a special name for me like "oh no it's that annoying lady that thinks we're scammers", hahaha, emailing them everytime I got worried I hadn't heard from them when I thought I should have lol. The team were so patient and polite, always responded in a timely manner. And after all of that, my car arrived. Right up to 2 mins away from Autoport and not being able to find the gate, I still thought I was being scammed. You may think, well why did you buy it that way then? Well the photos online, it was a beautiful car. Low k's compared to what I could find in NZ, good star rating, not a bad price. Almost a to good to be true scenario. I jumped on Google and did some research on Autoport, called the team to reassure myself, read the testimonials. Was happy to go thru with the purchase, made the transfer and still sh*t myself until the car arrived lol. I mean hey, some of these scams are very sophisticated :) However, I call her she and she is in my possession now. Couldn't get a AA lemon check done first which is my main go to when purchasing a Subaru so a lot of this was riding on hope. Had her for a few months now and she's going strong.

I had never purchased a vehicle on-line before, so I was apprehensive about how it all worked. I need not have worried, Autoport was obviously experienced as they answered all my questions reassuringly and allayed my fears by explaining the process clearly to me. They informed me of progress as it happened, the clearance, the loading, the transporting, even the whereabouts of the ship and its ports of call. Whatever paper work was required of them, they informed me, asked me in a timely fashion for my documents. I never felt under pressure and was impressed with their efficiency. I was even met at the airport and taken to their depot where again, all the paperwork was completed, and the car was mine! But it didn't stop there. I can't read Japanese. However, my queries about how something worked on the dashboard were patiently explained. The car is going well! I would not hesitate to recommend this company, and method of purchasing, to anyone. And I am really enjoying the car.

I've now imported two cars via Autoport, both PHEVs, and I am happy to report that on both occasions I found the process to be seamless. Each time their team took care of everything from pre-purchase inspection in Japan to compliance and vinning in NZ, providing email updates along the way - the only hard part was waiting for my vehicles to arrive! The only paperwork on my end was applying to NZTA for the Clean Car Rebate. So if you're seeking a specific model or trim level not available here, Autoport is the place I found mine, and I'll recommend them to anyone!

Having been a Jaguar enthusiast for more than 65 years I was trying to find a low mileage classic Jaguar to enjoy while I could still drive. I found such a car in Japan. I had no idea how to go about having it thoroughly inspected to ensure it was genuinely as reported. Even less how to securely purchase the vehicle. Have it removed from the Japanese register. We weren’t sure about buying a near new car from the UK as we didn’t like the idea of sending a lot of cash overseas and we didn’t know about claiming VAT. Autoport managed all that. The car had just 500 miles on the clock, was highly spec’d and the savings were very, very significant! Totally comfortable and totally trustworthy service and I like we got the right car direct from the source but dealt with a local NZ company. Very happy thanks for the great deal.

We’re a retired couple and needed a reliable car at the right price. Dealing with a NZ company who handles everything took the hassle away.
